The Election Commission of India has received representations from various political parties, candidates, and individuals regarding the General Election to Lok Sabha, 2024 in the 3-Anantnag-Rajouri Parliamentary Constituency of Jammu & Kashmir, scheduled for 7th May 2024.
Representatives including Imran Reza Ansari of J&K Peoples' Conference, Ravinder Raina, BJP President of J&K-UT, and Syed Mohammad Altaf Bukhari of J&K Apni Party have urged for a rescheduling of the poll date. Other parties and individuals such as J&K Nationalist People's Front, Apni Party, Adv Mohammad Saleem Paray, Ali Mohammad Wani, and Arsheed Ali Lone (candidates) have also contributed to the discourse.
The representations highlight concerns over various factors including road conditions, weather, and accessibility-related constraints that could potentially affect the conduct of fair and smooth elections in the region.
In response to these representations, the Election Commission has directed authorities to furnish a detailed report addressing these concerns.
