Are We the Last Generation to Read Books?

Are We the Last Generation to Read Books?

By Ayaz Mughal

Hey there, fellow bookworms! Let's talk about something that's been on my mind lately. Aren't we the last generation to truly appreciate the magic of books? I mean, think about it. Books have been around for thousands of years, weaving tales and imparting knowledge to eager readers like us.

Remember when books were our best friends? Back in the day, they were our go-to source for everything, from entertainment to education. We'd lose ourselves in the pages of a good book, spending hours in libraries flipping through stories and facts. Ah, the feeling of turning those pages and getting lost in a world of imagination, there's nothing quite like it.

But times are changing, my friends. With the rise of the internet, information is just a click away. Why bother with books when you can Google anything and everything? It's like we've become too lazy to put in the effort of picking up a physical book anymore.

I can't help but worry that the current generation is missing out on the joys of reading. Libraries, once bustling with eager readers, now stand empty, their shelves gathering dust. Sure, some folks still visit libraries, but mostly for civil services exam prep, not for the sheer love of reading.

And let's not forget about the lost art of browsing through bookstores, discovering hidden gems and local histories. Who has time for that when there's a whole virtual world waiting to be explored?

Don't get me wrong, the internet has its perks, but it's also taken something precious from us, the tangible connection we feel with physical books. Here's hoping that we're not the last generation to cherish the smell of old pages and the weight of a good book in our hands.

So, fellow book lovers, let's keep the flame of reading alive. Let's turn off our screens, pick up a book, and lose ourselves in its pages. After all, there's nothing quite like the magic of a good book.
