Anantnag-Rajauri Seat: No Nominees from NC, PDP, BJP, or Apni Party yet; only 2 Independent Candidates Step Up
The 2024 Lok Sabha elections are buzzing with activity, with voting for the first phase scheduled on April 19th and nominations for the second phase already underway. However, one constituency, Anantnag-Rajauri, has caught everyone's attention for an unexpected reason.
Despite the Election Commission of India issuing notifications for the Anantnag-Rajauri constituency on April 12th, major political parties and leaders have yet to officially file their nominations.
Names like Mian Muhammad Altaf from the National Conference backed by Congress, Mehbooba Mufti from the PDP, Gh. Nabi Azad from DPAP, and Zafar Manhas from Apni Party have been announced, but no one has submitted their nominations officially.

Ghulam Nabi Azad's statement about not finalizing his decision to contest and Mian Altaf's health concerns initially added to the uncertainty. However, later Mian Altaf clarified his intentions to contest.
Meanwhile, BJP has not announced any candidate officially, although there are speculations about names like Ravinder Raina and Iqbal Malik. Additionally, an IAS officer is also rumored to be part of the race.
Speculation is also rife about the possible postponement of polling for the Anantnag-Rajauri seat, although there's no official confirmation yet.
Only two independent candidates, Sheikh Muzaffar Ahmed and Dalip Kumar Pandita, having filed nominations so far, the contest for this seat, as per official website.
This election, conducted in seven phases starting from April 19th, has everyone on edge, especially with the results scheduled for announcement on June 4th.
