Poll Date for Anantnag-Rajouri Constituency Rescheduled
New Delhi: The Election Commission of India (ECI) has announced a revision in the polling schedule for the Anantnag-Rajouri Parliamentary Constituency in the Union Territory of Jammu & Kashmir.
This decision comes in response to numerous representations received from political parties citing logistical, communication, and natural barriers hindering fair campaigning opportunities for contesting candidates. Initially slated for May 7, 2024, as part of the third phase of the General Election to the Lok Sabha, the polling date for the Anantnag-Rajouri Constituency has been rescheduled to May 25, 2024.
The ECI invoked Section 56 of the Representation of People Act, 1951, after careful consideration of reports from the UT administration and an analysis of the ground situation in the constituency. The revised date aligns with the sixth phase of the General Election to Lok Sabha, 2024.
