Modern Cricket Net Facility Unveiled in Poonch

Poonch, 4 Jan 2025: In a landmark moment for sports enthusiasts in Poonch, a modern cricket net facility was inaugurated today at the Sports Stadium, Poonch. The event was presided over by  Sunil Sharma, President of the Bar Association, Poonch, alongside a host of esteemed guests and dignitaries. This state-of-the-art facility aims to revolutionize cricket training in the district, offering aspiring players a platform to refine their skills and pursue their dreams.

The inauguration ceremony saw the presence of prominent personalities, including Parvaiz Malik Afridi, Chairman of the Rahul Dravid Cricket Academy; Coach Sayed Talat Waseem; Engineer Shah Aziz; Captain of the Indian Divyang Cricket Team, Jasbir Singh; ZPEO Manjeet Singh; coaches Rajinder Singh, Narinder Singh, and Rohit Sharma; and several dedicated educators and trainers. The trainees of the Rahul Dravid Cricket Academy also participated, reflecting the district's growing enthusiasm for cricket.

The facility, developed with the active support of the Jammu and Kashmir Sports Council, has been lauded as a milestone in enhancing the sports infrastructure of the region. Special thanks were extended to J&K Sports Council Secretary Nuzhat Gull and CSO Mohd Hanief for their invaluable contributions.

Speaking on the occasion, Parvaiz Malik Afridi expressed his gratitude to the District Administration Poonch, the Department of Youth Services and Sports, and other stakeholders for their unwavering support. He highlighted how the cricket net would play a pivotal role in shaping the future of young cricketers, offering them the tools and environment needed to excel.

“This initiative is a testament to our collective commitment to promoting sports at the grassroots level,” said Afridi. “It will not only nurture talent but also instill discipline and teamwork among the youth.”

The inauguration was also attended by Mushtaq Ahmed, Manager of the Sports Stadium, Poonch; Imran Shah; Gurvinder Singh; and other notable figures from the sports and education sectors. Their presence underscored the community’s unified effort to elevate sports in the district.

With this new facility, Poonch takes a significant stride toward realizing its vision of becoming a hub for sports excellence. The cricket net is expected to inspire countless young athletes to chase their dreams and bring glory to the region.
