Open Hockey Tournament Kicks off with a bang at K K Haku Stadium
Jammu, March 13: The Hockey J&K organization launched the much-anticipated open hockey tournament today at the prestigious K K Haku Stadium.
The event commenced with an inauguration ceremony graced by Sh. Pardeep Sharma, Former MLC, who underscored the pivotal role of sports in nurturing the youth and fostering societal development. "In today's era, fitness and sports are indispensable companions," remarked the chief guest, highlighting the contemporary relevance of physical activity.
Featuring 7 men's teams, the tournament promises exhilarating matches and spirited competition. Sukhwinder Singh, Captain of Lachirakh Hockey Club Kathua, lauded the tournament's organization and the inclusive approach towards outstation players, hailing it as a commendable initiative.
The opening match between Lashipur Hockey Club Kathua and Khalsa Warriors captivated the audience with a display of remarkable skill and sportsmanship. Ultimately, Khalsa Warriors emerged victorious with a commanding 4-1 win, thanks to stellar performances from players like Mr. Karandeep Singh, Gurpreet Singh, Manmeet Singh, and Karanjeet.
The event witnessed the presence of esteemed dignitaries, including Ashok Singh, Former Divisional Sports Officer Jammu, Rajinder Singh, former President Hockey India, and other notable figures from the hockey community and beyond.
The match proceedings were overseen by competent officials, including Iqbal Singh, NIS Hockey Coach J&K Police, ensuring a fair and enjoyable experience for all participants and spectators alike.
